Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19

As Lutherans, we believe that baptism is more than plain water; it is water used according to God’s command and connected with God’s Word. Baptism brings about forgiveness of sins, redeems us from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe it, as the Word and promise of God declare. We believe it is important that everyone be baptized as soon as possible. We encourage the baptism of infants. If you have not been baptized, no matter what your age, we encourage you to receive God’s grace through the miracle of the baptismal water.

At Lutheran Church of Hope, baptisms are performed as part of our Sunday worship liturgy. Infants and children are brought to the baptismal font by their parents and sponsors. Adults who are baptized may be accompanied by friends or family.

If you desire to have a child baptized or to be baptized yourself, simply contact the pastor. The pastor will help you schedule the baptism and will meet with you beforehand to let you know what to expect, to help you understand the meaning of baptism, and to answer any questions you may have.
