Mrs. Kenda Meyer - Minister of Music: Chancel Choir Director


Kenda Meyer and her family have been members of Lutheran Church of Hope since 1979.


Kenda is a native of Colorado and received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. After graduating she taught vocal music in the Boulder Valley Schools
and currently still works for the school district. She has been a guest clinician and choral conductor for school districts in the Denver area. Her students have also performed for the Colorado Music Educators Association in Colorado Springs. She has held offices for CMEA and has been a clinician and speaker at both Colorado Middle Level and National Middle Level Conferences. Currently, she is the director of the Chancel Choir as well as the Director of the Children’s Choir at Broomfield United Methodist Church.


Kenda is married to Chuck and they have two daughters Lindsay and Kristi. Lindsay is married to Justin. Together they enjoy, traveling, sporting events, musical productions and spending as much time

Sue McKnight - Minister of Music - Children and Youth Music Director and Accompanist in Residence

Sue is a recent transplant to the Colorado area, living most of her life in New York State and then spending eight years in Arizona before moving to Colorado. Sue has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in New York. After graduation, Sue had a variety of jobs in the field of music including many years as an organist/choir director at three churches in New York.  There were also opportunities as an accompanist for two middle school choirs, the Spencerport Community Chorus, The Amadeus Children’s Chorale, and many theater performances for the Spencerport High School Drama club. Sue also taught for 10 years at Mother of Sorrows Catholic School in Rochester, New York. While in Arizona, Sue taught for 6 years at Sequoia Charter School, teaching piano and guitar to middle school and high school students. She also served as director of the Sequoia Chorus. Sue has been the Vacation Bible School director for the past three years here at Lutheran Church of Hope.

Sue is married to Fred and they have two children, Christopher McKnight and Betsy Moody. Betsy and her husband Bob are also members at LCHope along with their two beautiful daughters, Morgan and Avery. 

Sue enjoys spending time with her granddaughters as well as Betsy and Bob. She also likes to sew and knit. Her favorite way to relax is to play the piano and learn new music. You can reach Sue at susan@lchope.org.

Bells of Hope Director - Mr. Terry Shockey is filling in as Interim Director for the Bells of Hope for the fall of 2016.

Church Musician Emeriti

Ms. Jeannine Shafer-Flint - Jeannie served the music ministries of LCHope for over a decade in various roles from organist/accompanist, to providing accompaniment for soloists, instrumentalists, and small ensembles.  In addition, she was pivotal in providing accompaniment support for Spirit of Hope, LCHope's worship band.  The title of Church Musician Emeritus was bestowed on Jeannine on her retirement in June of 2010.

 

Ms. Kim Hohensee - Kim served two tenures as a music staff member of LCHope extending over 26 years of faithful service.  In addition to serving as organist/accompanist, Kim served over time directing the choir, coordinating the music ministry, transitioning the congregation to more contemporary settings of the psalms, as well as being the founding director of the Children's Tone Chime Choir.  The title of Church Musician Emeritus was bestowed upon Kim unanimously by the Board of Trustees in July of 2016.
