What is Worship like at LCHope?
All are welcome to worship and to engage and participate in the life of all of LCHope.
LITURGICAL worship
Lutheran Church of Hope is a part of the Rocky Mountain Synod, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). LCHope has a liturgical worship service with a variety of musical styles with holy communion being celebrated each week.
For worship, we use a bulletin to help you follow along. Our hymnbook has what we call "settings" in the beginning of the book. These lead us through the liturgy and we generally use the same setting for a length of time. Our bulletin lists the page number for the setting each Sunday.
All are welcome at the Communion table in our worship services regardless of faith tradition. We believe that God’s grace is given and shed for all people in the bread and wine of Holy Communion.
relaxed atmosphere
Within our community, we are young and old, married and single, divorced and widowed, black and white, straight and gay, parents and grandparents. We are a community of different people, but we are family. Speaking of family, at LCHope we are dedicated to defining that term inclusively, not conventionally. We embrace blended, single parent, same gender parents and racially diverse families.
While we are sincere in our faith, our atmosphere is relaxed. Some wear jeans, some wear shorts, and some wear dresses or ties. We pray, sing, listen, speak...sometimes we cry, and sometimes we laugh. We are the people of God.
We welcome children in our worship and yes, they make some noise, and that is awesome! We have hallways and a playground so kids can play inside and outside. We have a nursery that is always available. During the academic year (Sept-May), children ages 3-10 leave for part of the worship service for an age-based lesson on the readings for the day. Children depart right after the opening hymn, prayer; and return for the offering and holy communion.
After worship on Sundays, we gather for coffee and conversation in our Fellowship Hall across from the Nave. Please feel free to join us.
Our doors are always open to guests, and you are welcome at worship or any upcoming event!
