March 2025 Building Team

Since the beginning of this year, the building team has been working with our architecture firm, IDG, on the design phase of the new worship space. The output of this phase will include a set of design documents that focuses and refines the general idea of the project from the previously generated schematic design. The design documents will contain detailed plans and specifications. From those design documents, general contractors will be able to bid on the construction phase of the project. This design phase is expected to complete around the end of July.

There have been a series of meetings with IDG with a cadence of every two weeks since mid-January on the design. Topics of these meetings have included scope, budget, schedule, contract types, overall design updates, AV & acoustics design, data, access control, and finishes. Future topics include engineering systems, site design, and organ chamber design.

As part of the design phase, IDG has indicated pre-construction support from a general contractor to obtain early feedback on the design and review pricing estimates is needed. Thus, proposals from several construction firms for pre-construction support has been requested. We have received a few back and anticipate evaluating and interviewing several companies in the coming weeks.
